Good Evening COST,
The COST Website development is now far enough advanced for you to have a look, subscribe to the News Blog and provide constructive feedback and input on current and additional content.
To get notifications of posts to the site you will need to subscribe. To do this:
- Browse to the website location as noted above
- On the Home page, scroll down to the subscription box and enter your email address – click on the green box
- You will receive an email from WordPress – click on the Blue box in that email to ‘confirm’
- Then, in your browser, you will be taken to or just go to WordPress login site
- In the left-hand panel, identify the ‘Manage Subscriptions’ line and click on it
- At the top right-hand side, you’ll see ‘Howdy . . . – hover over it and click on ‘Edit Profile’
- In the screen that opens, enter a display name overwriting the random name assigned by WordPress – please use your name in clear so everyone knows who is posting what.
- Save the display name.
Congratulations – you will now have a WordPress account – there is no need to upgrade or download additional material from their site. You will receive emails from the COST website any time someone posts or comments.
If you have any problems, then just let me know and we will work it out.
I would also be grateful for your assistance in the ongoing development of the site.
- Let me know what you think of the “look” and the structure. Please bear in mind that we don’t want to change the basic structure as that takes a lot of fiddling – and I’ve already chopped and changed a few times.
- Click on all the links and advise any that don’t work.
- If you are asked for a PW on the site at any stage, use the one sent to you via Email. It should only be required to get into the protected page holding COST contact details. That PW also opens the Excel file that pops up with the COST database. As usual, let me know of any changes and I will amend the file as necessary.
- Advise if the material included is appropriate and or what additional material should or could be included. Bear in mind that I’m still populating things – especially the Gallery, Reunions and Docs/Memorabilia pages.
- Any other comment or thoughts you may have on the site.
Thanks for your cooperation. I look forward to receiving your feedback via Email or via the Comments to the News/Blog Post.
And finally, many thanks again to John Elphinston (Class of 72). Elph’s sharing of his WordPress expertise and his patience and time spent during the site’s evolution is greatly appreciated.
All the Best
Dave
