Cyclone Alf

Our very own Cyclone Larry hopes that all of those of you “oop north” – or in any other cardinal point direction from your locale – have battened down the hatches securely and made good use of your early training in sandbag filling and stacking as Cyclone Alf bears down on you. Peter Maher has already advised that the power is already off down his way on the Gold Coast.

Please let the rest of us know that you came through it OK and you and yours are safe. And pass on any requests for assistance that may be necessary amongst your local community. I’m sure the media will let us know of any general appeals that pop up post event.

    Thanks Dave

Report in from Pimpama where we live ( northern end Gold Coast) – all still ok with some wind and little rain. We aren’t in sea surge range; we live in a 521 homes-gated community with a river on three sides but are out of flood reach.

We have an Emergency Response Group of 88 people here and we have prepped for impact. Within hours, SHELTER IN HOME will be the norm until the bad guy (Cyclone Larry) has passed. You all would understand what happens then.

Thanks for the good wishes and thoughts. Judy and I wish all others in the affected area a safe transition through the next few days. Takes me back to Cyclone Tracy 1974; and we only responded after it. 5/7 RAR and then 6 RAR battalion groups deployed after the hit itself. This one shouldn’t be anywhere near as bad. ☺️

    Team

We dodged a (cyclone damage) bullet at Pimpama (northern Gold Coast..

Rain and flooding now the threat, but flood shouldn’t affect this loc.

    Comms all working. No casualties.
